How to troubleshoot CSV file import problems in ACT!

Nothing happens at all

1.       Windows Start > Run > enter services.msc > OK.

Windows 7 and Windows Vista – Start > Start Search box > type services.msc > Enter.

2.      Right-hand pane > locate and right-click SQL Server (ACT7) > Properties.

3.      Startup type > choose Automatic > ensure Service status is Started > OK.

Error messages

Invalid header

Retry the import after each of the following steps:

1. Remove the first row from the CSV file.

2. Within the Import Wizard, select Import the first record then follow the steps in the wizard to complete the import.

3. Copy the data to a new CSV file.

The process cannot access the file C:\filename and location.csv because it is being used by another process

  • Microsoft Excel > close the CSV file > complete the Import Wizard.
